About Me:
I am married to a passionate, spirited woman, raising our six month old son with her, living in a cohousing community, and looking at the world with amazement and puzzlement.
I am very interested in the problem of death anxiety as it relates to spiritual development. Ken Wilber opines using the work of Ernest Becker that the developmental fulcrum of the humanistic (green) paradigm is a pervasive, unconscious fear of death. The slightest awareness of this sends the average post-modern citizen flailing back into orange, blue, purple and red behaviors, and because the hurdle is so enormous, most of us can't even see it. I concluded that this is the most productive area to work in. The existentialists have explored this material to some degree, but for the most part, reject that there is any spiritual development beyond recognizing the cruel realities of the world. There is a lot of room for “and - and” here. Partial rightness for both the 2nd tier wannabes and the grumpy existentialists. I'm with you both!!
